like a fast river

I had a long and wonderful breakfast with Nicole this morning. She moves out on Saturday morning. She took off for a school retreat today. She will be gone all week, so it really was a goodbye. Philip also moved out today. Juergen took him to his new school. He will be home most weekends. I'm trying not to over think my life. There are too many changes. I feel I need to just ride along, like a river that carries me forward. Eventually we will land at a new normal. But I'm proud of my kids. I'll be happy if they make their way well.

25 years

Today I woke Jessica and got her ready for the bus. I made cupcakes for her to take to her workshop. Her bus driver greeted her with happy birthday. This made her so happy!   She is 25years old today. She is a beautiful women, and she smiled because she knows she will be celebrated today.

Jessica turns 25

Jessica turns 25 tomorrow. I woke up with the question, "What Makes a Life Significant"? How would you judge significance?

Happy birthday Thomas!

Today is my son Thomas' 19th birthday. He had to work, and after work he coaches soccer. Busy, busy, busy. And that is so great because it keeps him out of trouble! I made lasagne for dinner (his favorite). We have a strawberry cake for desert. And I found a real WW2 US Army footlocker from a farmer. It was in an old barn, left behind. I wonder what the story is behind this box. Maybe another 19 year old that never made it home? I pray we never send our sons to war. God bless Thomas.

Asterix the Gaul 1967

Sarah is on her way to summer camp. The theme is Asterix. I hope she has a great time. She was a little afraid. She gets that way, but she will come home happy. I was nervous when I went to Prague this week. It is just doing something new.

We are home and in love

Lucy was really excited to be in a new place. She did not cry but she also did not sleep much. I was the one who stayed up with her. I'm pretty tired from the trip and lack of sleep. But we are home. And everyone is taken with her. She is very smart and has a sweet temperament. She will settle down (I hope). We will spend allot of time training her. But she is a real treasure.
