For sale or rent

So our renters gave us 3 months’ notice and our house in Leimen is for rent or sale. We will bring a gardener in to put up a new fence and grass in the back garden. And if you know anyone looking, please keep us in mind. More info here...

HERITAGE

HERITAGE Something transmitted by or acquired from a predecessor: legacy We live in an age where people do not care much about heritage or legacy. They only care about now and spend everything on self. But some of us care very much about future generations, and the impact our life has on the future. My dad is an artist, and Nicole has acquired her talent from him. It must make him proud. And even though I know nothing about the birth parents of Philip, Thomas and Sarah, I see the talents they have acquired from their birth families. They have beauty and talent they did not get from me. And their birth families may never know these 3, but the world has been blessed with the legacy of gifts they have born. My Mom seems to be obsessed with her own ancestors. Sometimes I think why? But other times I realize just how much she wants us to know our own heritage, and to honor the shoulders we are standing on. And I have mixed feelings about this because I do not know anything abo

please pray

I'm asking all my blog friends to please pray for a beautiful little girl adopted from China named Teresa. She had a heart transplant and has had big complications. She is the most beautiful little girl and it would be such a loss to this world if she does not live a long and full life. Please keep her in your prayers. Here is the families blog. http://www.ourplacecalledhome.blogspot.de/

In the garden

They say we may get frost tonight. It's almost July! I'm putting the cold frames over my Italian vegetables! Here are some of our beautiful flowers. They don't seem to mind the rain! And Nicole took some great pictures of Mickey.

Looking for a buyer or renter

It looks like our renter may buy another house. In fact, I would encourage them to do it because it seems like a good deal for them. I would love to sell the house in Leimen, but I guess I would also be ok if we just rent again. I have to believe God has a will, and I am going to pray for His perfect will to be done. http://heymannhaus.blogspot.de/ We are going to hire a gardener to put in roll grass and a new fence in the back yard. I'll plant roses along the new fence. It will be lovely. http://www.quoka.de/immobilien-haeuser/reihenhaeuser/c2660a115850541/privat-reh-direkt.html

Leimen

Our renter in Leimen may be moving out soon. So we may want to find another renter, or better a buyer. The rent is 1200Euro, to buy it 300,000 Euro. If you know anyone looking let me know. It has 197m² living space, 300m² ground. And it has a new bathroom, new exterior paint, new gas heater, and kitchen. It is close to Heidelberg, 5 mins to the Strassenbahn, close to schools and SAP. Thank you ! h ttp://www.quoka.de/immobilien-haeuser/reihenhaeuser/c2660a115850541/privat-reh-direkt.html

roots

Today I observed my tomatoes plants. I have tomatoes that have been planted in the soil, and tomatoes that have not been planted yet. They were all started from seeds at the same time. But the ones that have been really planted are now 2 times as large as the ones in small pots waiting for a garden to call their own. The real difference is roots. My plants that have been planted have spread out their roots, and they grow big and strong. The ones in small pots are under stress because of the heat. They cannot grow any more. They need to be transplanted soon or they will eventually die. I've been to allot of orphanages. The kids struggle to grow. I remember the day we decided to adopt a 2nd time. We were walking in a big park. Philip was laughing and running. And Juergen and I could seem this root bound boy begin to thrive because he finally had a real home. And we knew we could do it again. And we did. And Thomas has thrived...he is taller than I am. He is growin

Hot

It is in the 90's today and tomorrow. We aren't really use to that here. Juergen put shade cloth over the green house to cool everything down in there. If it’s 90 degrees outside, it’s 120 degrees in the green house! Otherwise all the plants would be killed from the extreme heat. Nicole has gotten rid of all the extra tomatoes (at least I think so). We have set some aside for friends who have asked for them. But I don't think we will have any left by the end of this week. I visited with a friend for breakfast. That was so nice. But when I got home Jessica was there waiting with her teacher. I guess it was just too hot in the workshop. I had forgotten to bring my cell phone. But Philip let them in the house. He was also home early because of the heat. There is no air-conditioning in Germany. Schools close early the few days a year it gets too hot. So I'll need to stay close to home tomorrow too. But it's very nice in the house. I'm going to tak

Please

Good news...Nicole and Sarah sold 100 tomatoes plants at church today. The money goes towards Nicole’s mission’s trip to Cyprus in the fall. But the bad news is we still have 100 or more tomato plants I really need to find homes for. These are heirloom tomatoes we started from seeds we saved last year. Please come get plants from us, or e-mail me and I’ll bring them to you if I can (sorry, no US/ Asian/ or African deliveries)! I’ll even donate tomatoes to teachers to give to their class…or other good causes. We have planted about 70 plants for ourselves. I cannot manage more. I would hate to throw them away.

Happy Father's Day

I Love My DAD! And I wish him a happy father's day! And to all the other father's I know, my brother, brother in laws, and of course my own husband...you are more important then you will ever know. God bless you, and God help yo u!

lunch

As you can see, the garden is doing well. We now have water lilies in the pond. The tomatoes are growing well, and I bought 3 fruit trees (an apple, pear, and cherry) that are Espalier. Those need to be planted along a fence line, but they will be pretty cool.
Nicole and Sarah have a table set up outside. They are selling Herloom tomatoe plants 50 cents for smaller plants, 1 Euro for the larger plants. They also have sunflowers for 50 cents. and free coffee to my friends who stop by today!

got help

Nicole is by far my best helper in the garden.  In fact, it's more true to say I help her.  She loves the garden.  And I thought I would not have her help for awhile.  But she has an afternoon workshop this week.  So she helped me all morning.  And I hope we can also work together tomorrow.  We filled 2 raised beds with compost and soil.  Then we planted them with tomatoes.  We also moved the sweet potatoes out of the green house, and planted that raised bed with more tomatoes.  So far we have 40 tomatoes planted in the green house, and another 10 in the garden.  I think I'll try to plant another 20 in the garden.  Then I have about 150 to 200 more to sell.  I was going to give them away, but now Nicole wants to sell them.  She is planning on going to Cyprus this fall on a Missions trip for 6 weeks.  So she wants to raise some of the money selling off the extra tomatoes.  So if you want Heirloom tomatoes, they now cost 1Euro each.  You could have gotten them free yesterday, b

pulling weeds and doing the wash

We have about 10 loads of wash, so I'm just trying to catch up with it.  And I spent 2 hours in the garden pulling weeds.  I need another 10 hours to catch up with the weeds.  But I planted all the vegetables I brought home from Italy.  So much to do...so much to do.  But I'm very happy to be home.  It will take awhile before I can see my garden as anything but a weed patch, but I'll get there.  And I'm afraid I'm on my own.  Nicole can not afford to miss any school for the next 5 weeks.  She has allot of art to work on.  And after that she will be working at the summer camp.  So my best helper is out of the game, and I'm going to have to just deal with it a few hours at a time.  I just hope the weather improves.  I still have to wear a coat outside.  It feels more like March then June.
